In May of 1998, Great Day Ministries COGIC held its first service in the basement of Pastor Polnitz's home, under the leadership and direction of its founder, the late Elder David W. Jenkins. Elder Jenkins was a close friend and father figure to Pastor Polnitz. After the death of Elder Jenkins in May 2001, Pastor Polnitz served as interim Pastor until he was appointed Pastor of Great Day Ministries in August 2001 by Bishop Martin L. Johnson.
David Wayne Jenkins, our founder, was born February 12, 1956 in Trenton NJ. He had one brother and one sister. He was raised in Trenton, where he attended the Trenton Public school system. On October 17, 1977 he was married to the former Marva Renee Foreman. Two sons and a daughter were born from this blessed union.
In 1983, David Wayne Jenkins was saved and joined a church name True Fellowship Church of God In Christ where Jerry Foreman was the pastor, a few years later, David Wayne Jenkins was ordained Deacon. He worked hard under his new title. He was later ordained Minister and then Elder. God later gave him the vision of being a pastor. On the 3rd Sunday of April in 1999, Great Day Ministries was opened to the public. The Church started with 8 members in the basement of Elder Polnitz's Willingboro home. Pastor Jenkins pastored Great Day Ministries for approximately two years before God called him home on May 19, 2001. |
