THE GIFT OF SALVATION
Week 1: The Gift of Salvation
Scripture:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
—Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
Reflection:
Salvation is the greatest gift we could ever receive—freely given, never earned. It is not based on our goodness or our efforts but on God's love and mercy. Through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we are offered new life, forgiveness, and eternal hope. When we accept this gift by faith, we are made new and brought into a relationship with the Creator.
It can be easy to fall into the trap of trying to “work” our way into God's favor. But today’s scripture reminds us that salvation is a gift not a paycheck. God doesn’t want us striving—He wants us trusting. Living in this truth brings peace, purpose, and freedom.
Examine your heart today. Are you trying to earn God’s love, or are you resting in His grace? Let go of performance-based faith. Instead, embrace the freedom that comes from knowing your salvation is secure because of Jesus. Let that assurance empower you to love and serve others—not to gain approval, but as a grateful response to God’s love.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of salvation. I know I cannot earn Your love, yet You freely give it through Jesus. Help me to walk by faith and not by works. Remind me daily that Your grace is enough. Teach me to live with gratitude, rooted in Your love, and to share this gift with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
