Going Against All Odds

Day 18: Against All Odds

Scripture:
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed
2 Corinthians 4:7-9

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Encouragement:
Ever hear of the term, “nature vs nurture”? The term, nature, highlights the power of influence and emphasizes that an individual is a product of their environment that shapes them (where they grew up, traditions, people in their lives, culture, trauma, etc.). Nurture, on the other hand, focuses more on the person and their responsibility for their own actions despite their previous life circumstances and experiences. This means that, despite the environment, each person has a choice.

The phrase ‘Against all odds' means: Despite very low probability; in a most unlikely way. We have all went through life experiences that could have permanently crippled us or even worse. If you’re like me, you probably took a moment to think about those experiences, and then thought about how God delivered and restored you. Through the world’s eyes, there was a low probability that you would make it to where you are, but God made a way! Stand against those odds with a posture of resilience.
