Overcoming Fear
Day 22: Overcoming Fear

Encouragement:
Have you ever felt like doing something you know you cannot do because someone told you, “YOU CAN’T?” Well, I have. I can’t carry a tune to save my life. Crazy right? But it's true. I’m fearful of sitting behind people in church during worship. Fearful of worshiping and singing aloud. I fear what the person in front of me is thinking when they hear my tone of voice. Are they laughing at me? Are they saying mean things about my voice? So, I allowed that fear of being unable to sing the right tune to keep me from going forward in my worship of God. That fear controls my worship whenever I am behind someone.
I know I’m not alone. What have you allowed fear to control in your life that kept you from moving forward? I’ve learned that.
Fear is a common emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. It can be a debilitating feeling that can hold us back from pursuing our dreams and living fulfilling lives. However, according to scriptures, fear is not something we should succumb to or let control our lives.
The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7,” For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.” This verse reminds us that fear is not from God, and we have been given the power to overcome it. We are also reminded That God’s love is more significant than anything we could fear and that He has given us a sound mind to make decisions and not be controlled by fear.
Another scripture that speaks to fear is Psalm 23:4. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and staff, they comfort me. This passage reminds us that even in times of darkness, we do not need to fear because God is with us. It also speaks to the power of God’s protection, which can bring us peace amid fear.
In addition to these verses, the Bible also speaks to the importance of faith in overcoming fear. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” This reminds us that faith can help us overcome fear because it gives us confidence in what we cannot see. When we have faith That God is in control and has a plan for our lives, we can trust Him and not be controlled by fear.
In conclusion, as we approach the end of this fast, be assured that although fear can be a challenging emotion to deal with, it doesn’t have to control our lives. The scriptures offer powerful reminders to overcome our fears and trust God’s love, protection, and plan. By believing in ourselves and having faith in God, we can conquer our fears and live the life we are meant to live.
Remember, The miracle is in the movement.
